How do I apply for a Driveway &/or Fire Number ?

Town Ordinances: 

Driveway Ordinance 2003-02   

Fire Number Ordinance 95-1

Step 1:  Determine if the parcel is located on a State, County, Town of Plum Lake or Private road: (Complete the corresponding application(s) located in Town Documents>Permits and Forms)  

  1. State Hwy 155: Complete the State Driveway Application & Town of Plum Lake Driveway Application
  2. County Hwy (G, K, or N):  Complete the Vilas County Driveway Application & Town of Plum Lake Driveway Application
  3. Town of Plum Lake Road: Complete the Town of Plum Lake Driveway Application
  4. Private Road (Indicated with a Yellow Private Sticker) in Town of Plum Lake:  No permit needed.

Step 2:  After securing a Driveway Permit, apply for the Fire Number/Address Number by contacting Vilas County Land Information Department:  330 Court St Eagle River, WI 54521 Phone: (715)479-3755 Website: Vilas County Land Information Department or complete the Vilas County Uniform Addressing Application

Step 3:  Once Vilas County has assigned an address to the parcel, complete the Town of Plum Lake Fire (Address) Number Application.

What are the dates for the 2025 Elections?

February 18, 2025:  Spring Primary

April 1, 2025:  Spring Election

What are the hours for the brush dump?

The brush dump is open 24/7 from April 15-November 15.

How do I Reserve or Rent Town Facilities & Property?

To request the use of a Town of Plum Lake Property or Facilitiy please complete a request form and submit a printed copy along with any associated fees to the Town Office at PO Box 280 Sayner, WI 54560 or drop it off at the Town Hall located at 8755 Lake Street, Sayner during business hours.

Post Event Clean Up Checklist:  For all Town Properties.

Event Permit Application:   Use this application for a large event such as a festival, community event, or fundraiser. This application is used for events such as a Street Fair, parade, 5-10K race, bike rally, etc. If the Recreation Building and/or Town Hall are needed as well, complete the Use of the Town of Plum Lake Property-Recreation Building or Town Hall Application as well.

Use of the Town of Plum Lake Property-Recreation Building or Town Hall Application:  Use this application to Rent/Reserve the Recreation Building or Town Hall for personal use such as an wedding, anniversary, or birthday.

Use of Town of Plum Lake Pavilions-Chalet Application:  Use this application to Rent/Reserve any of the following:  Razorback Ridges Chalet, Star Lake Park Pavillion, Sayner School House Park Pavilion, the Recreation Ball Park Pavilion (Not Recreation Building).

Use of Town of Plum Lake Property (Chairs/Tables/etc.) Application: Use this application to Rent/Reserve property belonging to the Town of Plum Lake.

Does the Town of Plum Lake issue building permits?

The town of Plum Lake has no zoning restrictions beyond what the county imposes.  The only construction type permits issued by the town clerk are a driveway permit and a fire number permit.  All other permits are issued through Vilas County Zoning.

As of the 2020 Census, our town population was 566.  That number swells in the summer to many thousands.  The town encompasses about 100 square miles.

While they may appear as separate towns for post office purposes, Sayner and Star Lake are both part of the town of Plum Lake.
